Penang Clan Jetties

Penang has five distinct piers: Yang, Li, Chen, Zhou, Lin, and the Clan Jetties. The Clan Jetties of Penang bear witness to the early days of migrant workers from Fujian and Guangdong, and today, it’s home to the elderly.

There are many small shops on either side, where you can buy traditional snacks and enjoy a bowl of red bean ice. You can also watch the beautiful sunset from here. The sunset glow, combined with the sea and the ancient charm of the village, is truly breathtaking!

Pinang Peranakan Mansion

The Pinang Peranakan Mansion, a filming location for “The Little Nyonya,” offers two ticket options: a full ticket that includes clothing, the museum, and a complimentary Nyonya meal, and a museum-only ticket.

After purchasing your ticket and entering the museum, you can explore the museum’s interior. Nyonya clothing rentals are available inside the museum, and the staff will patiently help you find the perfect outfit. For an additional RM30, you can also get your hair done, and it is highly recommended to visit and have a photo shoot.

Siam Road Charcoal Char Koay Teow

Siam Road Charcoal Char Koay Teow is traditionally fried over charcoal, making it incredibly delicious. An uncle and his son run this stall, though the son currently does most of the cooking.

They insist on cooking only one plate at a time for each customer, rather than frying a large batch at once. This ensures that each plate of freshly fried kway teow is consistent and tastes the same. Therefore, the wait time may be a bit longer. The char kway teow toppings, including prawns and Chinese sausage, are both incredibly fresh.

Penang Hill

Penang Hill sits at an elevation of 821 meters in George Town. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll take a short train ride to enjoy breathtaking views and fresh air.

There’s also a popular cafe called Kopi Hutan, located at the summit, about a 20-minute walk away. Enjoying the view while enjoying a delicious meal is truly a delight. We highly recommend trying their sandwiches, tiramisu cake, and signature coffee.

My top recommendations include 888 Hokkien Mee, Presgrave Street Ah Shen Duck Egg Char Koay Teow, Traditional Charcoal-grilled Bread, Chow Kee Fried Kway Teow, and Oyster Omelette. Each dish is reasonably priced and generously portioned, offering excellent value and delicious food.
