Malaysian Food Street @ Resorts World Genting

Many first-time visitors to Genting Highlands often wonder — is there a food street in Genting? The answer is yes. There is actually a hidden food street in Genting that offers a variety of local, down-to-earth dishes.

The best part is that you can finally find more affordable food options here. In general, dining in Genting can be pretty pricey, so if you are travelling on a budget or want something more economical, this food street is a great place to explore. You might be surprised by how many local favourites are tucked away here.

Some personally recommended stalls include Ki Heong Bak Kut Teh, Long Yi Hokkien Mee, Han Kee Porridge, curry fish head, Koon Kee wantan mee, and rendang pork ribs. If you arrive at Genting Highlands and are not sure what to eat, these stalls are a good place to start. Chances are, you will not be disappointed.

Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park

Since you are already in Genting Highlands, how can you miss Genting SkyWorlds Outdoor Theme Park? The park is divided into nine themed zones, each with its own unique world and atmosphere, making it suitable for visitors of all ages.

That said, it is not really recommended to visit on weekends or public holidays. When it gets too crowded, a lot of time is usually spent queuing. If possible, it is better to make reservations in advance or start with rides like Samba Gliders, which often have long wait times. This ride is on the more thrilling side, so personal items are not allowed onboard, and visitors with long hair are required to tie it up. Don’t worry, though — the staff will provide storage boxes for everyone to keep their belongings safely.

One thing to note is that rides in the Epic zone require wearing a raincoat. Otherwise, you will likely come out completely wet. You can bring your own raincoat or purchase one there. For the remaining zones, feel free to choose based on your comfort level. The drop tower is also quite intense, while Alpha Fighter Pilot is a complete 360-degree spinning ride. If you are prone to dizziness or prefer gentler rides, these may not be the best options.

A friendly tip: download the Genting SkyWorlds App and use the Virtual Queue (VQ) feature to book your rides in advance. This helps reduce waiting time and allows you to enjoy more attractions during your visit to Genting SkyWorlds Outdoor Theme Park.

Beauty In The Pot @ SkyAvenue Genting Highlands

Enjoying a hot pot in cold weather really hits different, and with so many choices in Genting Highlands, Beauty in the Pot is one place we always come back to.

If it’s your first time here, I would honestly suggest going for three soup bases — the Beauty Collagen Soup, Pork Bone Soup, and Mala Soup. The Beauty Collagen Soup is especially popular among ladies. The broth is light, naturally sweet, and not oily. You don’t feel heavy after drinking it, and in Genting’s cool weather, every sip feels very comforting.

The Pork Bone Soup is fragrant without being too salty, making it perfect for cooking meat and vegetables. It’s a favourite among our elders and kids as well. As for the Mala Soup, if you are not very good with spicy food, choosing mild spice is more than enough. Their mala is not the “burning hot” kind — it’s aromatic and well-balanced, pairing nicely with meat and tofu.

Ordering a mix of soup bases makes it easy for everyone at the table to enjoy the meal. Another big plus is that they also offer barbecue. Being able to enjoy hot pot and BBQ at the same time, especially in Genting Highlands, really enhances the dining experience. It’s an excellent spot for family meals or gatherings with friends, with a cosy and lively atmosphere.

Zok Noodle House Genting Highlands

If you enjoy Hong Kong and Macau-style food, here’s a place in Genting Highlands that is definitely worth checking out — Zok Noodle House Genting Highlands. For many years, the restaurant has stayed consistent in using fresh ingredients, and that really shows in the food. Their soup bases are freshly prepared daily, and the bamboo noodles are handmade in-house using traditional methods.

So what should you order if it’s your first visit? Here are some of their most popular dishes that many diners go for:

  1. One standout dish is the Braised Lamb Brisket Wantan Noodles, a Genting-exclusive item that you won’t find at their other outlets.
  2. The Fresh Prawn Wantan Noodles are another favourite, featuring plump prawn-filled wantans paired with springy, silky bamboo noodles — a very classic Hong Kong-style combination.
  3. For something a little richer, the Milk Pork Bone Soup Noodles are slow-cooked for 6 hours with fresh milk and cooking wine, resulting in a creamy, fragrant broth.
  4. Don’t miss their Macau Egg Tarts, with a crispy crust and smooth, sweet filling — best enjoyed while still warm.
  5. The Seven-Spice Tofu has a mild kick of spice with a bouncy texture, making it surprisingly addictive.

If you are looking for authentic Hong Kong–Macau flavours in Genting Highlands, Zok Noodle House is an excellent choice for a satisfying, comforting meal.

Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park

The moment you step into Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, you are greeted by colourful neon lights that make the whole place feel like a futuristic carnival. Despite being an indoor theme park, the space is surprisingly huge. Skytropolis spans over 400,000 square feet across four floors, offering visitors plenty of room to explore and enjoy the rides.

The park is divided into three tide zones, each designed for different age groups — kids, families, and thrill-seekers. Some of the rides here are upgraded versions of attractions from the former outdoor theme park, which evoke many nostalgic memories for many Malaysians. Ride intensity ranges from mild to thrilling, so families of all ages can easily find something suitable. Each ride has its own height requirement, so it’s a good idea to check before queuing, especially if you are visiting with children.

Tickets for Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park are available in two options: pay-per-ride or an unlimited day pass.

Ticket prices are as follows:

  • For pay-per-ride tickets, Family and Adventure rides are priced at RM15 per ride, while Thrill rides are priced at RM20 per ride.
  • For the unlimited day pass, tickets are priced at RM75 when purchased at the ticket counter or self-service kiosks, RM65 when booked online via the official website, and RM45 for Pahang residents. There are also combination packages available that can offer savings of up to 68%, making it an excellent option for those planning to spend more time in the park.

Restoran Makanan Laut Yoke Heng

If you are in Seri Kembangan, Kuala Lumpur, this is one food spot you really should not miss — Restoran Makanan Laut Yoke Heng. This long-established eatery is famous for its claypot silver needle noodles and yee mee with fresh prawns, both of which are seriously satisfying.

This place is also well known for attracting Hong Kong celebrities whenever they visit Selangor, Malaysia. Inside the restaurant, you will see many photos of famous Hong Kong stars with the owner, including Moses Chan, Aimee Chan, Alan Tam, and many other familiar faces. So, of course, we had to come and try the “celebrity favourite” dishes for ourselves.

Their signature dish is the Claypot Silver Needle Noodles, which costs around RM20 per serving and is usually enough for two people to share. The noodles are cooked in a claypot, soaking up all the flavour, and served piping hot. We also ordered the Fresh Prawn Yee Mee, featuring large, fresh prawns with a springy texture, paired perfectly with smooth yee mee — a combination that works really well.

Another must-order dish is the Garlic Stir-Fried Clams. The clams are bouncy and juicy, coated in rich garlic aroma with crispy dried shrimp mixed in. The flavours and textures come together beautifully, making it hard to stop at just one bite.

If you are looking for a classic local restaurant in Seri Kembangan with great food and a bit of star power, Restoran Makanan Laut Yoke Heng is definitely worth a visit.

Farm In The City

Farm In The City is located in Seri Kembangan and is an excellent place for animal lovers and families with young children. If you are a parent looking for somewhere fun to bring your kids but are not sure where to go, this is honestly a place worth considering. It is very suitable for a relaxed family outing.

What makes Farm In The City different from a typical zoo is that the animals are not kept in cages or enclosed spaces. The farm focuses on allowing visitors to interact with the animals in a more natural and up-close way. Here, you can even touch and feed some of the animals. Of course, visitors are encouraged to be gentle and treat the animals with care.

The animals here are generally very friendly and non-aggressive, making the experience comfortable even for young children. Kids can also learn a lot about different animals through hands-on interaction. Even as adults, we found ourselves spending about 2 hours here without realising how much time had passed.

While Farm In The City is not as large as the National Zoo, it is often more engaging and interactive. It is not only a fun spot for families, but also a pleasant place for couples looking for something different to do around Seri Kembangan.

Merdeka Square

Kuala Lumpur is not just about the Petronas Twin Towers. Merdeka Square is another must-visit spot, especially if you enjoy taking photos. The entire area is lined with European-style buildings in soft pink tones, giving it a grand yet romantic feel. Many of the buildings around the square are rich in history, with the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building standing right across the road.

At the centre of Merdeka Square is a 41-metre-high clock tower, designed in a style similar to London’s Big Ben. Built during the British era, it remains one of the most recognisable landmarks in Kuala Lumpur. The square is lovely to visit both during the day and at night, but it is best to avoid the afternoon sun, as it can get extremely hot.

Personally, the evening is the best time to visit Merdeka Square. The weather is cooler, and the night view is genuinely beautiful. Occasionally, you may even catch small fireworks in the area, which makes it perfect for photos. The atmosphere at night is lively too, with small stalls setting up nearby.

Another plus is that many popular attractions are within walking distance. You can easily visit Petaling Street (Chinatown), Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, the River of Life (Blue River), and Masjid Jamek in a single trip, making it a great area to explore at a relaxed pace.

NZ Curry House

If you want to enjoy a great view of the Petronas Twin Towers while filling your stomach, this is one place you really should visit. NZ Curry House is a local Malaysian mamak restaurant located right opposite KLCC, and thanks to its prime location, it has become a popular photo spot over the years.

Many tourists and locals come here, but for different reasons. Tourists usually stop by for photos with the Twin Towers in the background, while locals come for the food — affordable, satisfying, and very Malaysian. It’s one of those places where you can sit down, eat well, and just enjoy the atmosphere.

When you’re here, you should definitely order Roti Tissue and Roti Pisang. Roti Tissue is a tall, crispy flatbread that arrives lying flat on the plate. You’ll need to use a cup to lift the centre before dipping it into condensed milk. It’s fragrant, crunchy, and seriously addictive. Roti Pisang, on the other hand, is a banana-filled roti that’s slightly sweet and very comforting. Both are personal favourites and perfect for sharing.

If you’re looking for a local mamak spot near KLCC with good food and a great view, NZ Curry House is a simple but solid choice.

Madam Kwan's

People often say Malaysia is a food paradise. When you travel here, dishes like nasi lemak, laksa, and char kway teow are a must-try. So the question is — where can you enjoy all these local favourites in one place? If you’re looking for convenience, Madam Kwan’s is a good option.

Some recommended dishes to order here include Char Kway Teow, Otak-Otak Fried Rice, Musang King Cendol, and Nasi Lemak.

  • Char Kway Teow is one dish that really tests the cook’s wok skills. Here, it is stir-fried over high heat with prawns, bean sprouts, and chives, giving it that strong wok hei aroma that makes the dish so satisfying.
  • The Otak-Otak Fried Rice features fish paste mixed with spices, stir-fried together with fragrant rice. Every grain is coated with flavour, and the aroma is honestly hard to resist.
  • For dessert, the Musang King Cendol is perfect for Malaysia’s hot weather. Shaved ice is topped with gula melaka and coconut milk, then finished with soft, creamy Musang King durian — refreshing and indulgent at the same time.
  • As for Nasi Lemak, it is also a must-order here. You can choose between curry chicken or beef rendang, served with coconut rice and classic sides. It’s filling and very satisfying.

Of course, many locals will tell you that the real hidden gems are found in small backstreets and neighbourhood stalls, but that usually takes more time and travelling. If you want something convenient and prefer to try many Malaysian classics in one place, Madam Kwan’s is definitely worth a visit.

Aquaria KLCC

The marine life at Aquaria KLCC is truly beautiful, and one of the most special experiences here is touching a starfish up close. It’s not something you get to do everywhere, and it feels especially memorable, even for adults.

That said, my absolute favourite part has to be the underwater tunnel. Walking through it, you can see sea turtles, sharks, and stingrays swimming right above your head. The moment really hits you — it’s impressive, a little unreal, and quite breathtaking at the same time.

Another thing I love about Aquaria KLCC is how photo-friendly it is. No matter where you stand, it’s easy to get nice shots. As you reach the end of the tunnel, you’ll be greeted by tanks filled with jellyfish in different colours. Soft lights glow around them as they drift gently, as if stars were dancing in the dark. Seeing them up close feels dreamy, calming, and surprisingly magical.

Overall, the aquarium experience at Aquaria KLCC is really enjoyable. From close-up interactions to stunning underwater views, it’s a place that leaves you feeling amazed — and honestly, it makes you appreciate and want to protect this beautiful blue world even more.
